Hi friends!! I shared on snapchat earlier this week that I was going to do a post on what I typically buy at the grocery store from week to week. Just a N O T E before we get down to business: this was not sponsored by Whole Foods, it just happens to be my favorite place to buy groceries– I also really love Trader Joe’s fruits, veggies and pre-made meals. A typical day for me starts with a smoothie for breakfast, I love the chopped/frozen fruits from Target. I have several favorite smoothies that I rotate between, but my go to is usually: strawberries, pineapples, greek yogurt and ice– just toss it all in a Ninja bullet and enjoy! I like to snack throughout the day until dinner, so I typically have a lot of fruits, veggies with dip and nutrition bars stocked up in the pantry, here are a few of my favorite snacks:
I have a M A J O R sweet tooth, like I could sit around all day and eat Hershey’s kisses– its an issue. So, I like to keep sweeter treats on hand that I can grab to avoid the Hershey’s (most of the time). For a snack on the sweet side: I love to chop up an apple and dip it in Justins Almond Butter or I’ll have a Larabar (my current favorite flavors are Cashew Cookie and Peanut Butter Cookie). Both are also great for on the go… I literally almost always have a Larabar in my purse (you need one, I gotchu).
I also looooove nothing more than a bowl of cereal. But because I’m not a huge breakfast person (I know, shame shame its the most important meal of the day) I’ll have some for a snack throughout the day. This Honey Flakes and Oat Clusters is too good to be true– it’s a lot like frosted flakes (without all the sugar) and some granola mixed it. Such a dangerous combo.
As for a salty snacks, I love a pretzel thin more than I should. I’ll dip them in just about anything: hummus, almond butter– you name it! Nut Thins are another must have for me, especially these snack size packages! I love to take these to work with a mini babybel… such a great combo!
If I’m actually feeling something more significant for lunch, I’ll make a salad at home. I’ll chop up some romaine, dice in a little cilantro, add some baked chicken, corn, black beans, pico, avocado, *little bit of* cheese and top it off with some guac… It’s like chipotle at home. And yes, I like to have avocados A N D gauc on a salad– can you ever have too much?
I snack on cheese and prosciutto while I cook… clean… work… whenever, really! Just put them on a flax seed cracker or nut thin and you’re good to go.
I am a freak over Whole Food’s fresh squeezed orange juice… I am literally drinking one as I type this. It’s soo fresh, soo tangy, soo good for the soul. I drink one or two a week (I would drink more if I wasn’t afraid of all that acid sitting in my stomach).
I also have to stock up on fruits– strawberries, raspberries, pomegranate, pineapples, cantaloupe. I’ll eat them plain or put them in a yogurt with granola.
My favorite dip of the moment is Tzatziki with celery or carrots. Beware: bad breath will follow… but totally worth it.
So thats what I buy at the grocery *most of the time*. I also like to keep chicken and salmon on deck for dinners at home, but they were not pictured. I’ll cover dinner in another post perhaps.
Such great ideas!!
