ALL GOOD MAKEUP STARTS WITH HEALTHY SKIN
I love skincare products and keeping my routine consistent, yet fresh! Your makeup routine will never fully live up to its potential unless you start working on the canvas. Spring and summer skincare *for me* is completely different than fall and winter. I can finally lay off the super moisturizing products that are necessary for my dry skin in the winter and allow my skin to breathe a little. This means I can have a little more fun in my routine and try out new products.
With summer sun, that also means an extra step SHOULD ALWYS be added into your routine: sunscreen! THIS one is my favorite and I wear it under my makeup every single day– whether I am going to the pool/beach or not. You never realize how much your face is exposed to the sun on a daily basis, so protecting it daily should be a must! This not only helps me combat the freckles (some are cute and I love when they come out– that doesnt mean I need to add new ones year after year) and slow down the aging process… plus, I think the sun zaps my skin of the little moisture it is able to produce on it’s own.
NEXT UP: EVEN OUT YOUR COMPLEXION
Once your skin is clean and moisturized, it’s time to start adding on the makeup. I like to keep this super light and natural looking in the summer– but lets be honest, I still have uneven skin tone so a little tinted moisturizer is necessary! I love how it evens out your complexion, while not looking super thick and caked on! Play around and find he right summer coverage for your skin and preference! THIS one adds just enough coverage for me to feel confident in my skin and not super covered up!
THEN, ADD A LITTLE HEALTHY GLOW
A little bronzer never hurt nobody! I love adding a healthy glow to my face (and body) in the summer. Because I am pretty pale, I tend to just pile on the sunscreen and then add a faux tan all over. This usually calls for some extra bronzer in order to match my face to my body! I love THIS one for a powder and THIS one if you prefer a liquid– to me, I like both– I just depends on whether I am trying to achieve a dewy finish or not.
DON’T FORGET– YOUR EYES LIKE THE GLOW, TOO
I never like to forget about my eyes– I think they really pop when you add just a little glow to them. Sometimes I just add a little bronzer in my crease and highlighter on my brown bone and call it a day… other times I like to focus on jazzing my lids up! I think it really polishes off a summer, dewy look!
TOP IT OFF WITH A LIP
Adding a little color to your lips is always the right answer– even if its just a nude gloss. Does anyone else feel like they’re half dressed when they don’t have a little something on their lips?
I LIKE TO ADD A LITTLE GLOW TO THE REST OF MY BODY, TOO
Last, but certainly not least– you can’t forget to add a little glow all over. Nothing says summer like a sun kissed body! This means I can enjoy the shade and a book and not feel stressed about getting a ‘real’ tan. This isn’t 2004– summer skin can be achieved in your bathroom! Take care of the skin you’re in and wear your sunscreen!! But that doesn’t mean you have to be pale! I am obsessed with THIS tanning mousse for my entire body and I add THIS serum to my moisturizer to give my face a similar glow.
TIP: I only leave the solution on my body for about 4-5 hours and the serum on my face for 3-4 hours to leave a healthy (read: not orange) glow… although I will say, I have left both of these on overnight and they turned a beautiful natural tan– just darker! Although, if I were going to the beach I would totally be okay with. But for day to day Kentucky tan– a few hours will do.
